Recordings of mostly live jazz and experimental music from Adelaide

1.1 Immermann

Here are a couple of tid-bits to tide you over until our next gig.

Cue the Lights
Pig Shooting - live at the Fad Bar

Adam Page - Live at Worldsy

If you haven't experienced Adam's solo live loopy madness, you're depriving yourself of one of the greatest pleasures this live has to offer. Lucky for you he plays every Wednesday night at Gallery De La Catteson (9 Anster St. Adelaide (just behind FADBAR on Waymouth st)) (at 9:00pm) (for $5) - and as if that isn't enough you can download one of his shows right here, right now! This was taken at the Worldsend Hotel where Adam supported Satan's Cheerleaders (hence the chant in the third tune), beautifully recorded and mixed by Ross Read.

01 Uncomfortable Laughter
02 Saxeridoo Box
03 Really Good Stir Fry
04 Oh Yeah!

Pat Thiele's Ornate Tapestry

Pat Thiele - trumpet
Chris Soole - alto sax
Nick Moulder - trombone
Sam Zerna - bass
Jarrad Payne - drums/percussion

This concert was recorded recently at the Governor Hindmarsh Hotel - one of the Jazz SA gigs (held every few Sundays). 'Song Without Words' was written by Nick, 'Tune for Pat's Journey' is a Bach-infused Soole composition and 'Homecoming' is a Dave Holland tune. All the rest are from Pat. There was much freedom and much craziness at this gig, and a huge variety of sounds and styles explored with no pesky chordal instruments to clog everything up. Beautifully mixed and recorded by Anthony Scott.

Füd - Stables

That's right! A new and awesome Füd recording for you all to download. This was recorded and engineered by Hugh at the Stables earlier this year - much better quality than the other Füd show here.

The only preconceived composition occurs right at the end - it's one of mine called 'Large Men' . Everything else was improvised. Lots of good moments. A few bad ones - nothing has been edited out. The sets have been divided up into chunks here to make it easier to digest, but we weren't thinking of it in chunks at all.

Along with his keyboard, Leo was using a thing he made in Reaktor to record and play with sounds on the fly and samples of each of us saying "Füd". I was using a small 2 piece kit with weird cymbals, and you can tell I was pretty tired (and bronchitisy) but I like some of the stuff I came up with. Stuckey was experimenting with midi guitar pickups. Sam just played the bass. Very well.

04 A Short Improvisation For Your Pleasure

This was a gig put on by the good people at COMA - Creative Original Music Adelaide.

Jarrad Payne - Lorem Ipsum

This is my album, recorded slowly between 2000 and 2005. If you'd like to buy it properly, send me an email, but because I'm not actively selling it at the moment and I like the idea of people listening to it, you can download it here (72 meg). Yay for free music! If choose to buy it, you get an actual non-mp3'd cd, hand-crafted cover, bonus video-clip made my Becq Hinton and more good karma than you'll know what to do with.

Satan's Cheerleaders

Download a rough recording of one of our live shows here. I reckon the sound of those Sony T mic things distorting is huge.
