It's a bit of a special occaision! It's father's Day and also time to make welcome a long awaited review - Raj on Taj Hyde Park! Yes, it's the alter ego of
the delicious curry as currently ranked number one on Unley Road, but this place is tucked away amongst paved roads and nice leafy trees. Not only do they now have a website, but it looks like they have
expanded their curry paws all the way to Victor Harbour, so now you can have a curry whilst you look at penguins! Plus special guest reviewer this week is my brother!

It's been a while since we hit Unley road's Indian treasures, so I thought it might be time for a bit of an update! The Raj on Taj isn't a very big place,
situated at the city end of Unley road in a little set of shops. Not the nicest looking restaurant front, and two shops down is a very similarly laid out
indian restaurant, but as the old saying goes, don't judge a tree by it's fruit (according to Google!). You might be wondering why there is a photo of a waiter, the head chef and myself, instead of
a painting or statue. Just read our reviews below to find out!

So, the second curry event for the year... pretty slack I know, but I can't help that things keep coming up! I was planning to go to this place some time last year but it
had skipped my mind, so this time I made sure it was on like Donkey Kong. As an added bonus, there is a coupon you can print out from their website which gives you
a 15% off total food and drinks bill! Tonight was a huge turn out, just under 20 people made it! Thanks people! Also Crawf came!

The location of this place I think used to be a failed chinese restaurant, now replaced with a quiet indian venue. Apparantly
the carpark out the back gets locked up, on one side only, which defeats the purpose of locking up a carpark. Anyways, a big crowd again tonight,
with many new faces which is good to see, and I'm more than happy to spread the love! On the special menu was kangaroo and goat so I just had to feast on one of them...

We're back for some more delicious curry, and this time breaking in a fairly new place in town! In between Gouger and Grote St, British India is a fairly fancy restaurant with two sections;
the main restaurant and a more casual dining area on the side called the Thali Room, which was the more fitting choice for us. Unfortunately we were locked into
getting the banquet because of a group booking, so the food had better be worth our $37 each! Let's find out!

The caterers to stars of the Bollywood film “Love Story” (filmed around Adelaide in 2006) were hosts
tonight for my own Bollywood saga "Curry Story". Yet another O'Connell St curry house, this place has it's chance to beat
it's rivals Arya and Beyond India who are just metres down the road. There are lots of hungry mouths to feed tonight so
there were very high expectations. We shall see!

Another nice, small local indian restaurant as reccomended by Brad and Ben, with a very interesting name as well which I wouldn't have
clicked as being indian! Upon entering, I was greeted by the takeaway waiting room which looked like a uni student's lounge room, complete with
Gardening Australia on the tv. The eating area was very quiet, maybe 2 people on another table, and things weren't very classy at all with tables which
reminded me a little like school desks. Notice something funny in the picture on the left? Yup, what the hell is 'beans & cheese'? ... authentic
indian for sure!

Well, it's another month that we missed our curry fix, but seeing as it was my birthday today, I thought I might revive the crowd and inject some tandoor into
the stomachs of my fellow well wishers, thanks everyone! I had totally forgot that I was here last year for a meal, and service was appauling, I had to wait 2 hours for my main
which came last out of everyone... but that was in the past, this is now. Hopefully things have improved! Let's see...

Right near last week's venue, the Spice Kitchen was one of the classier curry places we would be visiting this year. I've heard that the food here is excellent,
but finding their carpark first is a duty on its own if it is your first time coming here. Once you step inside the eating area, you can tell that
the meals wouldn't be cheap, but at the same time expecting some damn good curry. I've been lazy and busy, so this review has been put up late too. Sorry fans!

The second week of the Curry Review, and it's getting pretty popular! This week we're having the $27.50 banquet2 as seen on the menu here,
with entree, mains and dessert. Not a big place, and as Josh mentioned on the night, all the staff looked like they were indian,
which I guess means that we were going to get some authentic food.
At the end of the evening, family of the staff started eating dinner as well, so the food can't be that bad!

Wow, so many awards! I haven't seen a restaurant with such a list of commendations! I have heard that this place is one
of the best places in Adelaide, so I think we were expecting something flash. Very nice interior with walls lined with
artifacts, and even a wall of signed cricket bats from all different international teams! Immediate sense of quality to come as
soon as you step in the door (and down the stairs).

This is a pretty classy place to go to, with two dining areas including a function room.
It seemed to be very popular, seeing as we had to wait an hour to be seated even though we had booked a time,
and from looking at the signs on the door this venue has won SA and national Restaurant awards in the past. "Renowned for serving the best Northern Indian cuisine in Australia",
it's somewhere to enjoy your food, drinks and surroundings in style.

It's always good to see a new Indian restaurant open up, and so close to work too. Situated in North Adelaide, you would expect some class and fancy dining to be
had, and you wouldn't be wrong. A work friend came here a few months ago and thought it was a pretty good place too, so high expectations are on. But as they say, don't judge a curry
restaurant by it's vindaloo... or something. Bah, I don't need puns!

This place is opposite the first venue we reviewed (Tandoori Oven) and judging
by the name, I was expecting a similar result. According to their website they have "created a traditional Indian menu for
Adelaide which transcends the boundaries of any one region in India". On the other hand, their website also features a flashing
"Special Offer!" animated GIF... I hope their food is better than their site!

Time to try one of the local's, the Belair Bhavan is tucked away in Belair at the start of Belair Rd. We've had
takeaway curry from these guys before, and it has always been pretty decent, usually cheap as well, so we were
expecting a good deal tonight. It's not a very big place, but once inside the atmosphere and the general niceness
of the place could be appreciated. Don't be misguided by the Chinese dude making the naan bread in front of the counter,
although there is a Chinese restaurant next door...

After another week off from the regular curry review, I thought it would be nice to try out some of what Nepal could offer us. Taste of Nepal is one
of the fancier curry places to visit, with numerous reccomendations. We were given our own special eating area too, which was nice and quite unexpected.
I knew we were in for the same kind of curries that all the other indian restaurants served, just renamed to sound more exotic. Special Guest reviewer Ken
decided it was time to add his thoughts as well!

Oh! This place has been recommended by at least two people I know, and it's the local curry house for many of the gym people as well, so I guess
I am kind of obliged to review this place for my peoples! Situated in the bronx, this place is a small takeaway turned restaurant, so theres not too much seating, but
I've been told that all it takes is 35 people and you can book the place out... with free karaoke entertainment! This will be the closest curry place to my house, so it had better
be good on the charts! Oh, Entertainment Book voucher can be used here too.

Ah, nice to be back after a week off, it makes the experience more to look forwards to, and the Bombay Bicycle Club was a good choice to bring in the
new month! Lots of people turned up today as well making it a good catch up for all. This place is run by the same people as the Tap Inn, with a "jungle" theme
throughout it also had a similar feel to the Tap. Julia was hyping up the quality of the meals, so I was expecting something really good tonight! Nice elephant statues too!

I guess just by looking at the name, you might not have thought this was an indian restaurant, perhaps some kind of indian confectionary store? Their name
comes from the large amount of indian slices and desserts they sell in the front, and then past the cash register is the main eating area. Some nice paintings,
and the place was reasonably busy for a Friday night. I might also mention that the Hilltop Hoods were eating in the same room,
but it's Adelaide, everyone runs into everyone here!

Josh is a big fan of this place, and his family had been coming to grab takeaway for years. I couldn't find much information about them on the internet,
but then again you really have to see for yourself...it's hard to taste things over the internet. All I can say is, their deep fried naan breads are the best (same as Bhaturas), everyone must try
it and I'm being quite serious about that. After having a week off, a big crowd managed to come along and rejoin the string of reviews, so onwards curry!

We had last week off down at Port Elliot for Lisa's 21st birthday hooliday house, which was pretty fun, but now it's back to business with the Taj Tandoor.
I was expecting something pretty special from this place, as their website states they are "renowned for serving only the best quality of Indian food". Pretty big claim methinks!
Nice piece of tapestry on their wall I might add...

I've been to the Snake Charmer before with family, and it has been pretty good. Good choice of name as well,
and as you can see from the picture, this place has bene around for quite some time, so one would expect some
decent meals here. This week I brought along a coupon as well which made things pretty cheap, but if you have the
Entertainment Book card you get 25% otherwise. They have Kingfisher beer, as well as the local Cooper's and James
Squires India Pales.

Well colour me pink! Can you believe that the curry review is back?! After being busy with everything every weekend this year so far, I finally had time
to organise another edition of curried delights! After speaking with a friend who recently came back from holiday in H'England, he suggested a new
curry place run by some British-Indians. We all know now that England is the new India, and curries are pretty much England's staple diet. So, how well
does Australia's Mum cook tea? We'll find out!

Tucked away, entering from a side street off jetty road, is apparently what claims to be some or all of India's Pride.
Upon entering, the place was small and patrons were few which did not fare well with first impressions, so hopefully the food would be a lot better.
We were about to find out just how proud indians were and how it could be represented by a restaurant! Again this week we had a banquet to try a handful
selection of curries (pictured is part of the entree, vegetarian parcels).

Curry on a Friday night on Gouger St, be prepared to drive at an average of 10km per hour and line up for pay parking! BUt all good, as this place
is apparantly one of the better indian restaurants on Gouger St. Not a very big place, but has street dining which would be great on a not so cold night!
A few bits of india culture around the place, and obviously big cricket fans with signed cricket bats and a picture of Ashish Nehra. So, pretty good atmosphere,
and was very nice of them to accomodate for some extra curry eaters by extending our table too!

So, it's September right now whilst I write this review, and I cannot believe I didn't update this review 2 months ago. it was ready to be uploaded and everything!
Indian Delights is more of a takeaway curry-in-a-hurry joint, but the front of the shop was decked out with a few tables. For some reason I don't think we played chili roulette,
so I had to make do and replace the chili photo with an action shot of Steve filling his fat gob. I wasn't expecting a whole lot from a little takeaway joint, but who knows, there might be a pearl in this...

We saw this place two doors down from last week's Raj on Taj review, and I thought hey, what a lazy way to organise the next weeks event!
Similar in size, and perhaps just as appealing from the shop front, The Royal Tandoori seemed to be a fair contestant.
This place doesn't seem to be well advertised, it took me ages to find a phone number, and there are no reviews on the net either.
As you can see from this photo the interior looked OK in small sections, but on closer inspection it was very tacky and cheap. Perhaps
the curries would be better...
