Belair Bhavan
|
| 2 Main Rd Belair SA 5052 Phone: (08) 8370 3744 5 Nights (wed to Sun) 5.00pm (closed Mondays & Tuesdays)
Time to try one of the local's, the Belair Bhavan is tucked away in Belair at the start of Belair Rd. We've had
takeaway curry from these guys before, and it has always been pretty decent, usually cheap as well, so we were
expecting a good deal tonight. It's not a very big place, but once inside the atmosphere and the general niceness
of the place could be appreciated. Don't be misguided by the Chinese dude making the naan bread in front of the counter,
although there is a Chinese restaurant next door...
Our final score: 7.05/10

Lamb Korma
As pictured above, there was a good supply of indian style beers, such as Kingfisher and James Squires. I hadn't tried Gage Roads
IPA before, but it was cheap and decent. The Lamb Korma (called Nhari Korma on their menu) was very good, the meat was 'melt in your mouth'
style and plenty of sauce for wiping up with your naan bread. The only downfall of the night was the amount and price of rice they gave us.
One table's worth (apparently) was enough for maybe 3 people, so we had to order a few of those... at $6 each! What a rip! Offset by the
cheapness of the mains, I was very happy for curry, rice, naan and beer for under $25. Takeaway is still really good too. It's good to
know your local curry place can provide the goods!

Service: 7.3/10 -No complaints, bonus for waiter/owner having a massive afro on his ID card.
Quality: 8.3/10 -Really nice, good meat and great cheese naan.
Atmosphere: 6.9/10 -Again nothing too special, but general niceness.
Value: 7.9/10 -About $24.00 with beer and naan, too bad about price of rice...
Final Score: 7.6/10

Prawn Curry
When Abby invited me to the curry night i was very skeptical but I thought what the hell... I like a good curry!
Who would have thought to have a tour of all the curry restaurants around Adelaide's curry houses?
The dish I ordered was a creamy prawn dish that was meant to have curry in it. It was nice if you like seeded mustard
sauce. Tasted like a dish you would get from an Italian restaurant. I tried some of Abby's dish which was very tasty and
I wished I had ordered that instead.
Anyways I must make mention about the rice. They didn't supply enough and much to Abby's dismay there was "shit" in it
(some spices). Ha-ha. Also, I rated the Naan Bread that I got. It had cottage cheese in between the layers. There was some
good of the night. Overall - I am a very picky person and I thought the place was pretty good!

Service: 6.0/10 -considering how full the restaurant was we were served pretty quickly and efficiently by the old codger who was our waiter.
Quality: 5.0/10 -everyone else seemed pretty happy with there meal. I was just disappointed mine wasn't a curry.
Atmosphere: 7.5/10 -The place was full with all the hustle and bustle going on with lots of people chatting loudly.
Value: 7.5/10 -I paid about $30 for a main, some bread, rice and a drink. I thought that was pretty good!!! Considering I got a prawn dish!
Final Score: 6.5/10

The Chili Roulette!
A new first timer to the curry review, Stacey came along as per Abby's request, and was already told about the
Chili Roulette so no surprises here! Only six of us dining at the Belair Bhavan so chances were a bit slim.
Brad had to leave quickly for his Bulldogs game so he rolled first... and was the only one to get a prize! The chili's
looked like capsicum, but were mildy hot. So another victim gets added to the roulette leaderboard!
