The caterers to stars of the Bollywood film “Love Story” (filmed around Adelaide in 2006) were hosts
tonight for my own Bollywood saga "Curry Story". Yet another O'Connell St curry house, this place has it's chance to beat
it's rivals Arya and Beyond India who are just metres down the road. There are lots of hungry mouths to feed tonight so
there were very high expectations. We shall see!
Our final score: 8.075/10

Chicken Tikka Masala
A very appealing take on your staple Chicken Tikka, this time with a spicy and creamy tomato style sauce. It was part of an expensive $40 banquet
which was OK value, containing 5 different mains and any dessert choice too (check out their website for listing). Savory charcoal flavours of the chicken tikka combined with
ginger made this a much more sophisticated version of your butter chicken. The meat was quite tender, using proper Chicken Tikka chunks instead of just
plain chicken pieces poured on top which a lot of cheaper places would offer. Inside was nicely laid out, not overly large but still able to fit the 16 or so of us in their back room.
Service was great too, although the night wasn't a bustling market scene so perhaps more attention was spared. Overall a cosy place to eat, friendly staff, and very nice to receive some free wines
but like last review there's better value for money out there.

[Quality] 8.3/10 -Real chicken tikka used, but other mains were a little bit bland.
[Atmosphere] 7.8/10 -Neat and tidy, cosy atmosphere but a bit plain with the decor.
[Value] 7.8/10 -Perhaps the banquet was OK value, but individually were a bit pricey.

Butter Chicken
Apparently lacking completely in imagination this night, I ordered the butter chicken. This turned out okay,
because my butter chicken was a fabulous shade of orange! I do not think the photo has captured its true vibrancy.
It was a beautiful colour indeed. The taste was also quite good! Not spicy in the slightest but appropriately
chicken-like and I found the colour exciting enough. Unfortunately, I have a feeling the meal would have been
slightly forgettable if I had eaten it with my eyes closed (but I may have only myself to blame for somehow
choosing the most boring thing on the menu). Once again, some delicious garlic naan trumped everything else I ate.
The only aspect of the night that was cooler than the colour of my meal was that our candle holder TOTALLY EXPLODED!!

Saag Ghosht
Being the first to arrive, my rice-loving friend and I were greeted warmly and promptly shown to our seats.
We had the luxury of the entire upper-portion of the establishment, which was simple and of small-medium proportions.
The service I could not fault, other than the one up-sell performed by our almost dedicated waitress, who was excellent otherwise.
The food was excellent. Tender pieces of lamb with an interesting sauce. The spinach was obviously present but
certainly not overly dominant, with a miniscule bite, just what I was after. As you can see in the image, this particular dish also provided
a preview of the meal as it would exit the body as well as enter! Overall this was a very satisfying experience, and they even had a German beer
on the list I had never heard of – good marks for being adventurous! On the downside, it is one of the more expensive Indian restaurants
present, keeping in line with the true North Adelaide spirit.

The Chili Roulette!
Finally! A place with real hot chili's! And they were rather amused and intrigured with our little
game, the waitress got it right - saying that no one wins! That's right, everyone can only lose ... I know, how evil!

Fire is normally red, but in this case a lime green.

Jarrad's first curry review means he has to experience the roulette... double shot!
|
...Lou looks very shocked, she hates chili! I think it burned for at least 30 minutes!
