Well, according to their website we would be 100% satisfied with their services, a massive claim that we just had to check out! The Village Indian Restaurant is a new place for the ever changing Gouger St, just when we thought Adelaide couldn't get any more! This place is fairly pricey, so we all participated in the Maharaja's Banquet menu making it a little bit better value... with first review by Nina! Hopefully this food is fit enough for an actual Maharaja!

Time for another instalment of Chow's pike-out-on-hot-curry, with a very nice looking bowl of Butter Chicken. Now you might be looking at the photo and thinking, is that a rather large bowl or a small spoon... well for the first time in our curry tour the banquet consisted of just a few dishes to share in rather large pots! The meat was extremely tender, using proper chicken tikka from the tandoor and cooked with cream until velvety smooth. Tastes of coriander and turmeric were present but not overpowering, perfect for the butter chicken aficionado. Service was excellent, silver service water boys, a head waiter making the ship run tight... and best of all, the chef popping out to say hello (photo above)! Nice interior, rather classy to reflect the prices, but a bit more Indian flair could be nice. Overall a very nice experience, great for corporate functions, but there's better value out there for your regular Joe.

When I had to ask another participant what kind of meat the Roghan Josh had in it, it occurred to me the dish was not a memorable one. (This may have also had something to do with the vast quantities of Schnapple Pie cocktails that were consumed pre-curry). The Roghan Josh meat was somewhat chewy, but overall it was still a pleasing dish. It was very mild, but still tasty. The pappadums were bendy which was a disappointment, but the chicken tikka entrees were awesome (despite claims from one in our party that his wasn't cooked).The service was excellent and we were well looked after. By the end of the evening we did get told off though – one of the staff took exception to our 'fake candle' pyramid.

[Quality] 7.0/10 -Pappadums were a let down and curries weren't very spicy.
[Atmosphere] 7.0/10 -Nice place but nothing standout (except our candle pyramid).
[Value] 7.5/10 -Banquet meal for $29.95. Quantities seemed about right.
