It's a bit of a special occaision! It's father's Day and also time to make welcome a long awaited review - Raj on Taj Hyde Park! Yes, it's the alter ego of the delicious curry as currently ranked number one on Unley Road, but this place is tucked away amongst paved roads and nice leafy trees. Not only do they now have a website, but it looks like they have expanded their curry paws all the way to Victor Harbour, so now you can have a curry whilst you look at penguins! Plus special guest reviewer this week is my brother!

Well, it's been a while but time for something special. Almost a year ago Raj on Taj on Unley Rd came number one, so how will it's sister restaurant fare? I am suspecting really good, and first impressions were very positive. When you are inside you're are greeted with a warm old style house-turned-restaurant. The staff are friendly... but that's mainly because apparently I am famous! The waitress actually recognised me from my website after we reviewed the Unley Rd premise, and even showed me that behind the bar the had printed out my website review and stuck it onto their wall! I was very flattered... but onto the curry, which was as to be expected - excellent sauce and flavour of puree tomatoes and spices, big tender meat serving size and overall great prices, heading under $14 each. So good service and good food, but compared to Unley Rd... could be the new winner?!

Service: 9.3/10 -What can I say, being famous means that service has to be top notch!
Quality: 9.0/10 -Goat curry just as good as the Unley Rd restaurant, very very good.
Atmosphere: 9.1/10 -Warm, classy, traditional whilst still Indian - top establishment.
Value: 9.1/10 -Mains only a dollar more expensive than Unley Rd, definitely well worth it.

Having never formally reviewed on Chow's Curry Review website, I would like to give thanks to all those who have supported my quest to one day grace this page. That aside, Uncle Raj plated up the Rogan Josh of the lamb variety. Rogan Josh is one of the most popular curry dishes. I personally think lamb is simply one of the best meats on earth and this dish did not disappoint. The serving size was relatively generous, with plenty of sauce and meat to satisfy my palate. The lamb itself was cooked almost perfect for my liking by being soft and melty while not being too lean (remember folks, fat = flavour!). It also wasn't too spicy nor chili hot. Service was great despite the initial long wait for some water to be shipped from Italy. The place is pretty intimate (with candles!) and creates a soothing environment to enjoy the delicious food. My only real biffs is with the table cloths as they weren't clean... com'on... it's not a Chinese restaurant!

Service: 9.6/10 -Efficient, upbeat, girl was particularly nice to Chow due to his curry fame.
Quality: 8.8/10 -Would personally have liked it a little more spicey, but best I've ever had.
Atmosphere: 9.2/10 -Great little room with fire, moodlighting and moving elephant
Value: 9.0/10 -Best price for dine-in with cheaper take-away. Even I was full after everything!
